MAIKOOT LIMITED SERVICES

Connected support from first idea to repeatable part.

Use one service or combine several into a practical development route.

Maikoot Limited supports businesses, manufacturers, product teams and private customers with custom projects involving product development, CAD design, reverse engineering, 3D scanning, functional 3D printing and low-volume manufacturing.

Start with the information you already have. We can help identify the most useful next step.

Connected Technical Capability

Choose one service or combine them into a complete development route.

Some customers need a single CAD modification or printed component. Others need support across several stages, from defining the requirement and developing the design to producing prototypes, replacement parts or repeatable batches.

CAD Design

Create new 3D models, improve existing files or prepare designs for prototyping and manufacture.

Our CAD work is based around how the part will be made, fitted and used rather than only how it looks on screen.

Typical support

  • 3D CAD from sketches, measurements or ideas
  • Product and component modelling
  • Design modifications
  • CAD file repair
  • Dimensional changes
  • Design for 3D printing and prototyping
  • 2D drawing to 3D CAD conversion
  • Component and assembly development
  • Product-shaped, ergonomic or visual modelling where suitable
  • Preparation of manufacturing-ready files

More artistic, character-based or retail-focused modelling may be directed to Blue Box Goblin where that is the more appropriate route.

Reverse Engineering & 3D Scanning

Recreate unavailable, damaged or obsolete components when original drawings or CAD files are missing.

Depending on the geometry and project requirements, we may use physical measurements, photographs, scan data or a combination of methods to reproduce or improve the component.

Typical support

  • In-house 3D scanning
  • Part drop-off for scanning
  • Scan and mesh capture
  • Scan-data clean-up
  • Dimensional measurement
  • CAD reconstruction
  • Replacement-part development
  • Correction of worn or damaged geometry
  • Design improvement where appropriate
  • Preparation of printable or manufacturing-ready CAD

3D scanning is one tool within reverse engineering. Not every part requires scanning, and scanning alone does not automatically produce clean, editable CAD.

Functional 3D Printing / Additive Manufacturing

Produce prototypes, replacement components, production aids and practical end-use parts using FDM and SLA resin printing.

We provide material guidance and consider the required strength, fit, tolerance, appearance, environment and end use before production.

Typical support

  • FDM 3D printing
  • SLA and resin printing
  • Functional prototypes
  • Replacement components
  • One-off parts
  • Jigs and fixtures
  • Production aids
  • End-use components
  • Short production batches
  • Material advice
  • Inserts, fitting and basic assembly where agreed
  • Post-processing and finishing

Low-Volume Manufacturing Support

Produce repeatable small batches for specialist products, replacement components, bridge production and requirements that are not suited to high-volume manufacturing.

Low-volume production can be used after a prototype has been tested or where conventional tooling is not yet commercially justified.

Typical support

  • Repeat FDM or SLA production
  • Small product batches
  • Bridge manufacturing
  • Replacement and service parts
  • Production aids
  • Repeat ordering
  • Batch preparation
  • Inserts and basic assembly where agreed
  • Finishing and packaging requirements where agreed
  • Planning a future transition to another manufacturing process

Final pricing and lead time depend on part geometry, material, quantity, finishing requirements and available production capacity.

Injection Moulding Support

We can support injection-moulding projects through trusted UK-based and overseas manufacturing partners.

This service is intended for products that have progressed beyond prototyping and where tooling and higher-volume production may be commercially appropriate.

Typical support

  • Initial project and suitability review
  • CAD preparation or adjustment
  • Design considerations for moulding
  • Partner quotation requests
  • Tooling and production discussions
  • Sample review
  • Communication and project coordination
  • Support through the transition from prototype to moulded production

Maikoot Limited does not operate injection-moulding machinery in-house. Moulded production is provided through selected manufacturing partners.

ADDITIONAL PROJECT SUPPORT

Practical support around the main development process.

The following capabilities may be used as individual services or combined with a wider development, reverse-engineering or manufacturing project.

DESIGN - MAKE - EVOLVE

Clear stages. Better decisions.

Not every project needs every stage. The quotation will confirm what is included for the specific project.

01 / DESIGN

Define and develop

Review what is available, confirm the requirement and develop the agreed CAD direction.

02 / MAKE

Prototype and check

Produce a practical prototype or first sample for fit, function and assembly review.

03 / EVOLVE

Refine and prepare

Apply the agreed changes and prepare the design for repeat production or another process.

LOW-VOLUME MANUFACTURING

From a single part to repeat batches.

We support one-off prints, prototype cycles and low-volume production. For repeat orders, the approved revision, material, finish, quantity and packaging can be agreed before production begins.

Where appropriate, a first article or sample can be reviewed before the full batch is produced. Repeat orders are subject to current material availability, supplier batches, machine capacity and the continued suitability of the stored production files.

  • Repeat components and early product runs
  • Bridge production between prototype and tooling
  • Specialist low-volume requirements
  • Jigs, fixtures and production aids
THIRD-PARTY MANUFACTURING

Injection moulding and partner-supported production.

Maikoot Limited does not operate injection-moulding machinery in-house. Where third-party manufacturing is involved, the quotation will state whether Maikoot Limited is acting as the principal supplier, as a project coordinator, or as a referral source only.

Third-party lead times are estimates. Customer approval may be required before tooling, samples or production are committed. See our Terms & Conditions for how tooling ownership and third-party costs are handled.
